2. Affiliate Marketing

affiliate marketingWhat is that?
If you are not familiar with Affiliate Marketing, it’s basically a practice ran by companies who pay Affiliates to advertise their company, products, and/or services. An Affiliate is someone – like you – who is approved for promoting these. In order to become an Affiliate, you must first have a location to place these advertisements (website/blog), and apply to their program. Waiting for approval usually takes about 2-5 business days.
If you are denied, it’s because you did not meet the criteria listed in their Terms and Agreements. It’s not often these companies hold high standards, as they are anxious to promote themselves in any means possible. So, if you are denied, read the email they send you explaining that you weren’t accepted, and the reason(s) should be stated. If not, go back to their Terms and Agreements Policy and determine for yourself why you weren’t accepted. In any case, after correcting your site and/or content, re-apply.

There are 3 key categories of marketing programs used to promote companies content; pay per sale (PPS), pay per click (PPC), and pay per lead (PPL);

  • Pay Per Sale (PPS) programs are rather self-explanatory, where Affiliates are paid a percentage of each sale directed from their website
  • Pay Per Click (PPC) programs pay their affiliates each time an advertisement on their –yours – website is clicked on
  • Pay Per Lead (PPL) programs pay their Affiliates each time a customer registers to a product/service when directed from their website
I recommend applying to each of these programs with your company of choice. Personally, I use Amazon for my Pay Per Sale program, Google for my Pay Per Click program, and depending on the blog I am creating, I search for and choose a Pay Per Lead program that is related to my niche.
